Liat Alkan
Voice
Born in Jerusalem, Israel, Liat is a professional singer and voice teacher with many years of experience. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem in 1997, and with a post-graduate degree from Indiana University (Bloomington, Indiana, USA) at 2000. She was also a recipient of the prestigious Sharet Foundation scholarship. Liat has vast experience in teaching voice lessons and coaching vocal ensembles. She has been teaching at The American School of The Hague since 2004, and is the conductor of the ASH Community Choir. Liat performs mainly solo and chamber music recitals, in a range of classical styles. She performed as a soloist in various concerts of romantic and early music, oratorio and operas - concerts with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, The Israeli Sinfonietta, the North Galilee choir, the Jerusalem Academy Chamber Orchestra and others. Liat is a member of the Amaryllis Ensemble, performing pieces for soprano clarinet and piano. In 2003 she participated in the May 4th Nationale Herdenking ceremony in the Nieuwe kerk in Amsterdam with the presence of Queen Beatrix. In 2007 she performed in the New-Year’s concert at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
